So rich and strange and conflicted. Thanks for the posting, it brought back memories. The quality of the associations a perfume triggers is usually what really causes me to fall in love with it.indieperfumeshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16933060392329498890noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3902352134639664562.post-24905794863093102462007-11-14T14:13:00.000-08:002007-11-14T14:13:00.000-08:00I've never been much for the "Missionary" in any o...I've never been much for the "Missionary" in any of its iterations. So proselytizing is most certainly out of the question. As for incense, I'd imagine that the general prejudice against scents in the places where people congregate is responsible. Some people dramatize being offended by scents, as if the person wearing them had gone and exposed herself in public.Vetivressehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13184229271272395673noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3902352134639664562.post-52631425294911130892007-11-14T05:45:00.000-08:002007-11-14T05:45:00.000-08:00How wonderful to affirm your roots as you head off...How wonderful to affirm your roots as you head off as missionary to the Bosporus. Strange that most Catholic parishes use incense almost apologetically, while Orthodox and Anglo-Catholic Churches revel in it (not to mention Wiccans and neo-Pagans). Not only does incense evoke the clouds of eternal mystery, but it involves the sense of smell (and thus brings all five senses into the liturgical experience). One wonders why it is not used more often.Marie Fatime of Damascushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05974911586245318366noreply@blogger.com
